All REALTORS® Must Complete an Ethics Update Class by 2012
The National Association of REALTORS® has added a requirement for REALTOR® membership. All REALTORS® must take an Ethics Update course every four years in order to maintain their REALTOR® membership. If you have NOT taken an Ethics class after January 1, 2009, you must do so by December 31, 2012, and every four years thereafter in order to remain a member in good standing. This requirement is completely distinct and separate from the Real Estate Commission Update requirement. The Ethics Update course will apply toward the elective credits required to renew your license.
All REALTORS® are required by NAR and to comply with SMDRA's bylaws, to complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of an ethics update course between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2012. If a REALTOR® member fails to complete an ethics update class, their membership will be suspended until the completion of an ethics course or until they can provide proof of their ethics course completion to the South Metro Denver REALTOR® Association.
