MISSION STATEMENT: The Metro Denver REALTOR® Foundation (MDRF) was developed in the name of community spirit and giving to improve the growing Denver metropolitan area by supporting projects that promote affordable housing, improve neighborhoods, and enhance educational opportunities. |
|
|
Metro Denver REALTOR® Foundation or MDRF is a not-for-profit foundation, established in 1989 by the metropolitan Denver area REALTOR® associations including:
Each REALTOR® and affiliate member of the participating organizations is a member of the Foundation. This provides the 12,000 individual REALTORS® an opportunity to give back to the communities in which they live and work. Since its inception, MDRF has returned over a half million dollars to the communities in the form of education scholarships, affordable housing programs and community projects such as the Colfax Network, Interfaith Task Force and Gateway Battered Women’s Shelter.
Monies are raised through various programs instituted by the Metro Denver REALTOR® Foundation. These programs include the Stapleton Stampede, the June Golf Classic, “Bacchus”, a premier wine tasting and art show, the “Buck-a-deal” program for REALTOR® /affiliate participants and the commemorative “Tree of Life” located in each REALTOR® association office. Funds are distributed through a grant process with emphasis placed on the mission statement of this Foundation which supports affordable housing, community improvements and education. |

6th Annual June Golf Classic |
|
Once again we embark on a year of fundraising on behalf of the Metro Denver REALTOR® Foundation and the programs that we support. As you may remember, the mission of MDRF is to improve the metro Denver community by promoting affordable housing, improvement of neighborhoods and enhancement of educational opportunities. Our focus is community viability, which includes aiding those who find themselves in financial crisis, without housing and in need of education to be able to re-enter the workforce. In the past, funds raised have been donated to an organization called “Stride”, whose emphasis is on helping single parents emerge from these rather desperate situations by helping them find employment and housing.
We wish to continue in that effort. As REALTORS® and others associated with this profession, it is imperative that we do our best to see that people, desiring to resurrect their lives after difficult times, also have shelter. After all, housing is our lives!
Your support of our annual June Golf Classic aids in supporting such worthwhile causes as “Stride”, as well as the many others that have benefited in the preceding years. Your generosity not only goes far in promoting goodwill in the entire metro area for the REALTOR® community and all the affiliates associated therein, but helps many people in crisis overcome major obstacles.
We thank you for your continued generosity and appreciation for the efforts of MDRF to give back to the community in which we all live and work.
Please join us in all of our endeavors in 2006. Giving back is not just
good for the soul, it’s an opportunity! Come
out and have some fun! |

5th Annual MDRF
Golf Tournament at the Ridge Thurs., June 23, 2005 |
|
BLUE SKIES, SUNSHINE AND WALK …ON THE GOLF COURSE! The 5th annual MDRF June Golf Classic was held on June 23 at the Ridge at Castle Pines and it was a blast! The sold out tournament with all but 3 of the 144 players on hand (a record for Realtors®) was a forum for fun and frivolity benefiting homeless families. The course was beautiful, the people of good cheer, the silent auction loaded with items of note which raised lots of money, the mulligan sales brisk, and the food, music and awards a bonus to end a tremendously fun day.
We are eternally grateful to all of our sponsors for their support and participation. Participating sponsors in order of contributions are: Masters Level: Clarion Mortgage Capital, Centex Homes, John Laing Homes, KB Home, Professional Restoration, Red Rocks Federal Credit Union, Stewart Title of Denver, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Castle Pines and Security Title. U.S. Open Sponsors: Chicago Title and Clear Creek Financial Services Breakfast Co-Sponsors: Land Title Guarantee Company and John Laing Homes Luncheon Co-Sponsors: Land Title Guarantee Company and Village Homes Hole in One sponsors: Benchmark property inspections and Kuni Lexus Hole Sponsors: Environmental Testing company, Esprit Homes, First American Heritage Title, Shea Homes, Remax Masters, Inc., United Title Company, The Kentwood Company, World Inspection network, Instant Imprints of Aurora, North American Title Company, Metrolist, Oakwood Homes, Amber homes, Richmond American homes, Theo Brin, Cherry Creek Internet Group, Synergy Inspection Services and Synergy Financial Group.
We also thank each of you who came out to play. It was indeed a terrific response from the Realtors® and Affiliates in support of MDRF, your charitable local giving arm. We thank you for all the money you painlessly spent on the golf course, whether at the silent auction, the balloon sales, the golf ball divers, the mulligans or the contests!
By the way, The Tickle Traveling Trophy for low score with players from one office was won by the Kentwood Company team: John Fitzpatrick, Roger Campbell, Tim Clark and Maureen Moore. First Place over all winners are: John Barnes, Sheldon Anderson, Jim Wosachlo and Paul Wosachlo Second Place over all: Marty McNellis, David Flake, Justin Stevens and Mark Higgins Third Place over all: Paul Zurek, David Bubes, Mike Faulkner, and Michael Lucero Longest drive women: Katie Harken Longest drive men: Andy Mitchel Closest to the pin men: Justin Stevens Closest to the pin women: Laurie Anderson Straightest Drive men: Steve Henrichs. Last, but not least, many, many thanks to the committee who worked so very hard to make this year’s event such a resounding success. The very organized committee was chaired by SMDRA’s most capable Donna Ebert. Rick Yerman, who worked diligently in securing the most sponsorships, was tournament organizer the day of the event and was our star committee member! Committee members were: ‘always there Ginger Pariett’, Jeff Smith, Bobbi Taylor, Jodi Vanderhill-Smith, Desiree Banka, Gary Morton, Brian Lovett, Terry Simmons, Dean Bowring, and D.J. Thompson. |

4th Annual REALTOR Foundation Golf Tournament A BEAUTIFUL DAY WAS PROMISED…. |
|
And what was delivered was not only a great day of weather with NO rain, but loads of fun, lots of door prizes, great contests with some lucky winners, a cocktail party to when it was over so the losers could cry in their beer and fun that was had by all. This was the Metro Denver Realtor Foundation June Golf Classic held at The Ridge in Castle Pines North, sponsored in large by Discount Tire Company, and heavily supported by those loyal stalwarts: Land Title Guarantee Company, Clarion Mortgage Capital, Stewart Title, First American Heritage Title, Blue Ribbon Home Warranty, John Laing Homes, Security Title and McKesson Medical. These fine sponsors as well as the many who sponsored holes and contests at the tournament, not only supported the Metro Denver Realtor Foundation but supported organizations that improve life for others throughout the metro area. Many, many thanks to ALL of the sponsors, to all of the players, and especially to the golf tournament committee, headed up by Terry Simmons of ReMax Masters.
The team of Scott Sanders, Skip Sanders, Jeff Cremers and Garrett Farnsworth took home First Place. The team of Michael Lucero, Ben Purcey, Paul Zurek and Michael Faulkner garnered 2nd place and the team of Steve Page, Richard Seldin, Tim Hancock and Buz Newman took third place. Men’s longest drive was won by S. Sanders. Women’s closest to the pin was won by Barbara Caldwell, and Women’s longest drive was won by Sarah Holliday. Congratulations to all of the winners!
Again, thank
you to everyone for making this the most successful tournament to date
with nearly a 30% increase in net earnings over last year. We earned
literally a few dollars short of $20,000! |

| “ REALTOR® Foundation to Kick-Off Buck a Deal” Program |
|
Funds are raised by the Foundation through the Buck-a-Deal program which asks all parties in a real estate transaction to contribute a dollar, or more, for each deal. Two companies that have made this program a priority and deserve special recognition are North American Title and Nostalgic Homes. Their commitment to the Foundation and our community is deeply appreciated. (Photo Jack Zelkin holding checks presented to MDRF from North American Title) |
|
The “Buck a Deal” program is strictly voluntary. REALTORSâ will have the opportunity to participate in a number of ways, including “Buck a Deal” collection boxes at participating title companies and brokerage offices, or simply by completing a donation form and mailing a check to the Foundation. Donation forms are included in the “Buck a Deal” brochures distributed with the collection boxes. Donations may be made at the time of each closing, or batched over a period of time. While the program seeks one dollar per side of each transaction participated in, contributions are not limited to just one dollar. The Metro Denver REALTORâ Foundation membership consists of all the major REALTORâ associations in the metro area including, Aurora Association of REALTORSâ, Denver Board of REALTORSâ, Denver Commercial Association of REALTORSâ, Douglas/Elbert REALTORâ Association, Jefferson County Association of REALTORSâ, North Metro Denver REALTORâ Association and South Metro Denver REALTORâ Association. Individual REALTORSâ are members of the Foundation by virtue of their membership in any of these associations. “Buck a Deal” funds are handled in two ways. Fifty per cent of the funds go to the Foundation endowment fund, where earnings accumulate for charitable giving. The other 50% of funds received are immediately available for the Foundations Charitable giving programs. The Foundation Mission Statement supports “giving to improve the growing Denver metropolitan community by supporting projects that promote affordable housing, improve neighborhoods, and enhance educational opportunities.” Member associations participate in the giving process by providing names of organizations, charities or individuals that will benefit from a Foundation gift. All “Buck a Deal” funds and investment management of the Foundation endowment are handled through the Foundation Trust Department of Colorado State Bank and Trust. The Foundation is governed by Board of Trustees with four Trustees from each member REALTORâ Association. To
learn more about the Foundation or how you can participate as a volunteer,
